Mets Outright Catcher
The New York Mets designated him for assignment last Friday.
Now, Michael Perez has passed through waivers unclaimed and has been sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Michael Perez cleared waivers after being DFA’d. He’ll be a free agent.
Plus, veterans who were outrighted earlier this year (R.J. Alvarez, Álex Claudio, Phillip Diehl, Deven Marrero, and Yolmer Sánchez) are free agents
The Mets needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster ahead of their Wild Card series against the San Diego Padres, so Perez was the odd man out.
He passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to serve as catching depth for the Mets, for now.
This past season, Perez slashed .149/.214/.512, with six home runs, 14 RBIs, one stolen base and 10 runs scored over 121 at-bats in the majors.
In the minors this season, the thirty-year-old slashed .208/.326/.651, with two home runs, 12 RBIs and six runs scored across 77 at-bats.
