Mariners Announce Game 1 Starter; Posted 2.52 ERA in Four Starts Against Astros This Season
The Seattle Mariners have made their decision on who will start Game 1 of their ALDS series against the Houston Astros.
Gilbert posted a solid 3.20 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 174 strikeouts across 185 innings of work this season. In 32 starts, he held a 13-6 record.
Seattle should have Logan Gilbert lined up to pitch Game 1 on Tuesday against Justin Verlander. Luis Castillo will be on full rest to go in Game 2.

Gilbert made four starts against the Astros this season and, normally, that would seem to be trouble for a starting pitcher, however, Gilbert was very good against them.
In 25 innings pitched against the Astros this season, Gilbert had a 2.52 ERA and recorded 22 strikeouts. The only pitcher to record more strikeouts against the Astros this season was Shohei Ohtani with 45.
