Cubs Prospect Suffers Multiple Injuries On Same Play; Had Great Season In Minors
He's the ninth-ranked prospect in the Chicago Cubs system.
Cubs prospect Alexander Canario suffered a bimalleolar ankle fracture and left shoulder dislocation while playing in the Dominican Winter League.
Canario apparently suffered the injury stumbling across first base on Thursday. The Cubs should eventually provide more clarity about a timetable, but it's terrible news either way.
The twenty-two-year-old had a great season in the minors this season, playing time at all three levels, slashing .252/.343/.556, with 37 home runs, 97 RBIs, 23 stolen bases and 84 runs scored across 125 games.

The injury puts him out for a while, and with a guy close to contributing in Chicago the news hurts the team even more.
