Cardinals Rumors: 2 Players Not Expected Back Next Season
The St. Louis Cardinals already have two major departures heading into the 2023 season, as Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina have retired. Yet, there are still two more players who are not expected to return for them, too. Let's look at them now.
Jose Quintana: After a strong bounce-back season, Jose Quintana is ready to take advantage of his risen value on the open market. The 11-year veteran had a 6-7 record and 2.93 ERA in 32 games split between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cardinals. Yet, he thrived with St. Louis, as he had a 2.01 ERA in 12 games. Thus, ending the year on a high note will only heighten his chances of getting a good deal but also hurt the Cardinals' chances of retaining him.
Corey Dickerson: Corey Dickerson proved to be a solid depth option for the Cardinals this season. In 96 games, he had six home runs, 36 RBIs, and a .267 batting average. Expect him to receive a good amount of interest on the open market this campaign. Teams in need of some outfield depth will surely be calling.
