Blue Jays manager John Schneider said on Saturday that Espinal's recovery timeline has sped up and the club is hoping that he'll return sometime during the team's season-ending series early this week in Baltimore.
There isn't a definitive timeline for Gurriel Jr. to be activated from the injured list, but it sounds like there's also a chance he's back for the team's final regular-season series early this week against the Orioles.
Gurriel has hit for a strong .291 batting average, with five home runs, 52 RBIs and three stolen bases this season.
Espinal has hit for a .267 batting average, with seven home runs, 51 RBIs and six stolen bases this season.
