Atlanta Braves Pitcher Has Tommy John Surgery

Atlanta Braves pitcher Tyler Matzek has had Tommy John surgery and is likely to miss the entirety of next season because of it.

This is certainly rough news for both Matzek and the Braves. The 31-year-old proved to be a solid reliever for them this season, where he had a 4-2 record to go along with a 3.50 ERA. It was another good year for him, so having him miss not only the playoffs but next season is a big blow for Atlanta.

As a result of this news, we could very well see the Braves look to add some relievers to their roster this offseason, whether that is through trade or free agency. Alas, here's to hoping everything goes smoothly with his recovery from here.
