Video: Albert Pujols Makes History; Hits Home Run No. 700!
The Machine has done it! After hitting career home run no. 699 against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, he immediately followed that at-bat up by hitting his 700th! With this, Pujols is the fourth player in MLB history to reach this magnificent milestone.
What a season it has been for Pujols. Heading into 2022, fans wondered if the 42-year-old could reach 700 career home runs. His power numbers had taken a step back over the last few seasons, so it was not a guarantee that he would hit the 21 home runs needed to make history. Yet, he has done just that, and with time to spare, too.
Now that Pujols has reached 700 home runs, baseball fans around the league can breathe a sigh of relief. The future Hall of Famer noted that this would be his last season, regardless of if he hit 700 career home runs. Now, we can all enjoy Pujols' final games knowing he has hit this milestone.
