Texas Rangers Pitcher Clears Waivers
After being designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers, Kohei Arihara is staying put, as he has cleared waivers.
Due to Arihara clearing waivers, he has now been outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock by the Rangers. He will be aiming to put together a solid end to the season in Triple-A, as it could be exactly what gets him back on the 40-man roster. This would be big for Arihara because it would lead to an inevitable call-up as well.
When Arihara signed his two-year, $6.2 million contract before the 2021 season, he was viewed as being a potential big signing. Yet, things just have not worked out for him in Texas. This season has made that abundantly clear, however, as he has a 1-3 record and disastrous 9.45 ERA in five appearances. In total with the Rangers, he has a 3-7 record and 7.57 ERA in 15 games.
