Texas Rangers Call Up Pitcher
The Texas Rangers have called up John King to their major league roster. This move was in response to the team designating Dallas Keuchel for assignment. Thus, King is taking Keuchel's major league spot.
King isn't a stranger to the majors, however, as he has already appeared in 31 games for the Rangers this campaign. During them, he has recorded a 1-3 record to go along with a 4.67 ERA. With stats like these, it's fair to argue that he hasn't been particularly impressive. Yet, he is now getting another chance with the Rangers and could help change that if is consistent during this call-up.
With the Rangers being entirely out of the playoff race, giving another chance to King possesses no risk. The 64-game veteran will now be aiming to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, as it could be what helps cement him a permanent spot in their bullpen for not only the rest of this season but also next year, too.
