Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher Elects Free Agency
When Matt Wisler was placed on waivers, it seemed that the eight-year veteran would be claimed. However, that did not come to fruition, and he has now elected to become a free agent because of it.
Truthfully, it should not take Wisler very long to find his next home in the league. The 29-year-old has had a very solid season, which made him being designated for assignment rather surprising. In 39 games on the year, he sports a 3-3 record to go along with an impressive 2.25 ERA. This should be enough for him to land a minor league deal, at a minimum.
Teams in need of some bullpen should certainly take a flyer on Wisler. We will have to wait and see what happens with him from here.
