Tampa Bay Rays Call Up Pitcher
With the Tampa Bay Rays designating Matt Wisler for assignment, they were in a position to call another player up from the minors. Luis Patino was that said guy, as he is now with the major league squad.
Immediately following his call-up, Patino started for the Rays on Monday night, where he pitched 5.0 innings and allowed three earned runs. Overall, it wasn't a bad start for him, and one has to wonder if he will be sticking around for more appearances from here.
Patino has made five appearances this season for the Rays in total. During them, he has put together a 1-1 record and 4.34 ERA. Now that he is back with the team, he will be hoping to end the year on a strong note. This, in turn, could be exactly what cements the 22-year-old a spot in their rotation for not just the rest of this season but next year as well.
