San Francisco Giants Reliever Called Up

With Austin Slater being placed on the injured list, the San Francisco Giants had a roster spot available to make a call-up. Now, they have done just that, as Yunior Marte will be joining the major league squad. 

Marte is certainly a familiar face to Giants fans, as he has already made 28 appearances for the team this season. During them, it is fair to say that he has had his struggles, as his 6.17 ERA shows. However, he is now getting the chance to turn things around. If he can show more consistency, it could be exactly what keeps him in the majors for the rest of the year. 

At the time of this writing, the Giants currently sport a 65-68 record and are 7.5 games behind the San Diego Padres for the final Wild Card spot. Thus, they are essentially out of the playoff race, so there is no risk in them taking another chance on Marte. Here's to hoping he can end the year strongly from here.
