San Francisco Giants Outfielder Clears Waivers

Earlier this week, the San Francisco Giants designated Willie Calhoun for assignment. Since then, he has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento as a result.

Yet, at the time of this writing, we do not have confirmation that Calhoun will be staying with the Giants organization. Due to his MLB experience, he has the freedom to elect free agency and reject the Giants' outright assignment.

Calhoun was traded to the Giants earlier this season after requesting a move from the Texas Rangers. The former top prospect has appeared in 22 games between the two clubs in 2022, where he has one home run and a .135 batting average. Overall, it has been another rough year for him.

It will be intriguing to see what Calhoun decides from here, but for now, he will remain in the Giants' system.
