San Francisco Giants Designate Infielder For Assignment
The San Francisco Giants have designated Willie Calhoun for assignment.
Calhoun was traded to the Giants earlier this season by the Texas Rangers. He was recently called up to the Giants' major league roster for the first time, where he appeared in four games. However, he struggled when called upon, as he had just one hit in eight at-bats. That was not enough for him to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster, and now he is heading to the waiver wire.
Calhoun could get some interest on the waiver wire if a team feels that he can find his previous form. In 2019, he had 21 home runs in just 83 games with the Rangers, but he has yet to replicate that kind of production. Perhaps a change of scenery could help change that.
