San Francisco Giants Designate Catcher For Assignment
The San Francisco Giants have designated Andrew Knapp for assignment.
This is certainly familiar territory for Knapp, as he has been on the move several times this season alone due to being DFA'd. Although he has only appeared in 14 major league games this season, he has spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners, and Giants. During them, he has zero home runs, two RBIs, and a .143 batting average.
Knapp will now be placed on the waiver wire, where teams will have the chance to claim him. If he passes through them, don't be surprised to see him elect free agency instead of accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A. He has the ability to reject it due to the fact that he has already been outrighted this season.
