San Francisco Giants Claim First Baseman Off Waivers
The San Francisco Giants have claimed Taylor Jones off of waivers from the Houston Astros.
Jones will be beginning his tenure with the Giants organization down in Triple-A Sacramento, as he has been optioned. Luckily, this waiver claim means that he is on their 40-man roster, however, so that will make it easy for the Giants to call him up before the season ends if they wish to.
Jones has made appearances at the major league level in each of the last three seasons with the Astros, playing in 43 total games. During them, he hit three home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .234 batting average. He will be looking to improve those stats as a Giant, but he will first need to earn himself a call-up for that to come to fruition.
