Rodgers has not played since Sunday, when he suffered the injury, and clearly was not progressing fast enough. It's not yet clear whether Rodgers will be able to return before the end of the regular season on October 05.
The twenty-six-year-old has had a disappointing season, slashing just .261/.319/.715, with 11 home runs, 61 RBIs and 68 runs scored over 502 at-bats.
