Rays Option Catcher

The Tampa Bay Rays have optioned catcher Rene Pinto to Triple-A Durham. 

.@RaysBaseball select the contract of INF Miles Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Durham; option C Rene Pinto to Triple-A Durham; designate RHP Kevin Herget for assignment

This doesn't exactly come as a surprise, as Pinto has slashed just .208/.240/.306, with two home runs, 10 RBIs, and five runs scored over 23 games played with the Rays this season.

In the minors this season, the twenty-five-year-old has slashed .258/.315/.823, with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, one stolen base and 34 runs scored over 256 at-bats. 

Miles Mastrobuoni has been called up in a corresponding move.
