The Pittsburgh Pirates are giving one of their prospects a look, as Luis Ortiz has been called up to their major league roster. This comes after he just threw six no-hit innings in his last appearance.

Ortiz is ranked as the 22nd-best prospect in Pittsburgh's prospect pool. He has split this season between Double-A and Triple-A, where he has a combined 5-9 record to go along with a 4.56 ERA. Overall, he has had mixed results in 2022, but the Pirates are now ready to give the 23-year-old a chance.
Ultimately, what's the harm in Pittsburgh giving Ortiz an opportunity? It's the end of the season, and they are not in the playoff hunt whatsoever. Thus, they are in a position to try out some of their prospects, so let's see what Ortiz can do.
