Pittsburgh Pirates Designate 2 Players For Assignment
It may be the end of the season, but the Pittsburgh Pirates are still making changes to their 40-man roster. They have designated both Michael Chavis and Greg Allen for assignment.
Out of the pair, Chavis being DFA'd is more surprising. He appeared in 129 games for the Pirates this season, where he had a solid 14 home runs and 49 RBIs. Yet, he also struggled to hit for contact, as his 126 strikeouts and .229 batting average show. Due to his versatility and power, it wouldn't be surprising to see him get claimed off waivers.
Allen, on the other hand, played in 46 games for the Pirates this season as a depth player. During them, he had two home runs, eight RBIs, and a .186 batting average.
