Oakland Athletics Outfielder Clears Waivers
The Oakland Athletics designated Luis Barrera for assignment earlier this week. His removal from the team's 40-man roster resulted in him hitting the waiver wire, and he has since cleared them. As a result, he now has been outrighted to Triple-A.
Yet, Barrera staying with the A's is not a guarantee. Due to the fact that he has been outrighted twice this season previously, he has the option to elect free agency. With the regular season just about over, he could elect to stay put, but he also could use this as an opportunity to look for a fresh start for 2023 early.
Barrera appeared in 32 games this season with the A's, where he had one home run, seven RBIs, and a .234 batting average. It will be intriguing to see what happens with him from here.
