Oakland Athletics Claim Outfielder From St. Louis Cardinals

The Oakland Athletics have added to their outfield depth, as they have claimed Conner Capel off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Capel was recently designated for assignment by the Cardinals and when it was announced, it seemed likely that another team would take a chance on him. Keep in mind, he is still only 25 years old, so he has plenty of time left to improve in the sport's most competitive. Thus, it makes sense that a rebuilding team like the A's are taking a flyer on him.

In nine games this season with the Cardinals, the rookie had one home run, two RBIs, and a .176 batting average. It will be interesting to see how these numbers improve for him as an A.
