New York Yankees Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The New York Yankees have designated Luke Bard for assignment.
With this move, Bard is no longer on the Yankees' 40-man roster, and he will be hitting the waiver wire as a result of it. This certainly is a quick development, as he only appeared in one game as a Yankee, where he pitched a scoreless inning. Although his lone outing was encouraging, it wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster.
Bard has had a fairly solid season when in the majors this year, so perhaps another club will be open to the prospect of adding him. In nine games on the season, he sports a 1-1 record to go along with a 1.80 ERA.
