New York Yankees Designate Infielder For Assignment

Ronald Guzman was just called up to the New York Yankees earlier this week, but now his time with the major league squad is coming to a close. The Bronx Bombers have designated the 27-year-old first baseman for assignment.

Unfortunately, the return of Josh Donaldson and Guzman's struggles at the plate made this move predictable. In six at-bats during his call-up, Guzman failed to get a hit and struck out five times. Needless to say, he did not leave a good first impression, and that ultimately made him expendable at the end of the day.

Guzman will now be hitting the waiver wire, and the rest of the league has the opportunity to claim him. Perhaps someone will take a chance on him, as he is a 246-game veteran. He has had a solid year in Triple-A, keep in mind, as his 12 home runs and .260 batting average in 90 games show effectively.
