New York Yankees Call Up Infielder
With Anthony Rizzo out for the New York Yankees, they had a roster spot available to make a call-up. Due to this, Ronald Guzman is joining the major league squad for the first time this season.
Guzman has not made his debut as a Yankee, but now that is set to change. The 27-year-old completed a four-year tenure with the Texas Rangers last season but was unable to secure himself a full-time role with the club. In 243 career games, he has 31 home runs, 104 RBIs, and a .227 batting average. Thus, when he is on his game, he has the potential to provide a bit of pop.
Guzman has had a fairly solid year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, too. In 90 games on the year, he has 12 home runs, 39 RBIs, and a .260 batting average. Let's see how much of this translates over to the majors.
