RHP Yoan López has been recalled from AAA and will serve as the team’s 29th man for both games of the doubleheader.
RHP Adonis Medina has been designated for assignment.
With this development, Medina is no longer on the team's 40-man roster and must be placed on waivers as a result. Teams looking for a bit more pitching depth could be open to the idea of claiming him. However, it is also important to note that he is struggling this campaign. In 14 games for the Mets on the year, he has a 1-0 record to go along with a 6.08 ERA.
Although it has not been the best year for Medina, we should not rule out the possibility of the 25-year-old finding a new home on the waiver wire. If he does not, the Mets will likely keep him around in their system. Time will tell what happens from here.
