New York Mets Designate Infielder For Assignment
The New York Mets have designated Deven Marrero for assignment.
Marrero is certainly no stranger to being designated for assignment, as this has occurred eight times since 2021. With the Mets, he appeared in five games with the major league squad, where he went 0-for-6 at the plate. With his struggles at the plate during his call-up, perhaps his removal from their 40-man roster could have been predicted.
Marrero will now be heading to the waiver wire. Teams in need of some infield depth could decide to take a chance on the 178-game veteran, but it also wouldn't be too surprising to see him clear. If he does, he has the option to reject an outright assignment. Time will tell what happens with him from here.
