New York Mets Call Up Pitcher
With Trevor May recently hitting the injured list, the New York Mets had the freedom to call up another pitcher from their system. Bryce Montes de Oca is joining the major league squad because of it.
Montes de Oca will be a pitcher to watch extremely closely during this call-up. The 26-year-old has been getting a lot of attention due to his velocity, as he has hit the 102 MPH mark on several occasions this season. That is certainly appealing, so it will be intriguing to see if he can show some signs of dominance due to it.
Flamethrowing relievers Bryce Montes de Oca and Michel Otañez have been promoted from AA Binghamton to the SMets! Both pitchers regularly hit triple-digits and have been clocked at 102 MPH... so technically, we just added 204 MPH to our bullpen #wearethefuture pic.twitter.com/Sq6Fks19OR

If Montes de Oca can impress during this call-up, it could be exactly what allows him to stick with the team even when May comes back. Perhaps the rookie can force May out of the bullpen, as the latter has struggled a lot this season. Alas, time will tell on that front.
