Minnesota Twins Place Pitcher On Injured List

The Minnesota Twins have placed Sonny Gray on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain.

Gray left his start against the Cleveland Guardians on Monday early, so this IL placement isn't the most surprising of developments. Furthermore, with the Twins essentially out of the playoff race at this juncture, it makes sense for them to rest Gray instead of having him potentially worsen his injury by pitching.

Although this has been a disappointing season for the Twins, Gray came as advertised in his first year with the club. In 24 appearances, he has an 8-5 record to go along with a 3.08 ERA - his best since his All-Star campaign in 2019.
