Minnesota Twins Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The Minnesota Twins have designated Dereck Rodriguez for assignment.
Rodriguez was just called up to the Twins, but now he is being removed from the club's 40-man roster entirely. This certainly is a rough turn of events, as the 30-year-old will now be hitting the waiver wire. If he clears waivers, it is not a guarantee that he will remain with the Twins organization, as he has the freedom to elect free agency and reject an outright assignment. This is because he has been outrighted before.
Rodriguez could be a decent depth option for a team in need of some pitching, so we will need to see what happens with him from here. In 53 career MLB games over four seasons, he sports a 12-16 record and 4.24 ERA.
