Los Angeles Angels Place Infielder On Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels have placed David Fletcher on the 10-day injured list. The 28-year-old infielder was hit by a pitch last week, and it appears that it is impacting his hand too much for him to continue playing through it.
Ultimately, when looking at how the Angels are out of the playoff picture because of how horribly they collapsed, it makes sense for Fletcher to sit out and rest. The Angels are not in a position where he should risk worsening his injury to participate in games that simply do not matter at this point of the season. Therefore, having him sit out is the correct call of action.
Fletcher has been a solid utility player for the Angels this season, much like he has been throughout his five-year career with the club. In 54 games on the season, he has two home runs, 15 RBIs, and a .259 batting average.
