Noé Ramirez has been designated for assignment.
Nelson was having a fantastic season prior to going down with the lower back injury, posting a phenomenal 1.57 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts over 34 innings this season.
He'll likely be a late-inning option for the Diamondbacks down the stretch.

The D-Backs have activated pitcher Kenyan Middleton off the 15-day injured list. Middleton has been out for more than a month with a right ankle sprain. The twenty-eight-year-old was having a nice season before going down with the injury, posting a stellar 1.64 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 10 strikeouts over 11 innings.
Over 18 innings in the minors this season, Middleton holds a 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 26 strikeouts. He's started one game and converted one save over 18 appearances. He'll also likely be a middle to late inning reliever for the Diamondbacks moving forward.
