Detroit Tigers Pitcher Placed On Injured List

The Detroit Tigers have placed Joe Jimenez on the 15-day injured list.

Jimenez is dealing with a right lumbar strain and has been for over a month, as he confirmed that to be the case to reporters. With this being a 15-day stint on the IL, that all but ends Jimenez's season. With the Tigers being out of the playoff race, there's no need for him to risk worsening his injury, so this IL placement was certainly the right call.

It was a very good season for Jimenez in 2022. In 62 games, he had a 3-2 record to go along with a 3.49 ERA. After a year like this, we could see the Tigers take advantage of his increased trade value this offseason. If not, he will continue to be a good part of their bullpen in 2023.
