Miley has been out since early June due to persistent shoulder issues.
The thirty-five-year-old had only thrown 19 innings before going down with the injury, but had registered a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 12 strikeouts over 19 innings.

Miley posted a 4.50 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 22 innings during his minor league rehab assignment. He made six starts. Miley will get a chance to face the Cincinnati Reds, who placed him on waivers in November of 2021. The Cubs then acquired his services and agreed to pay him $10 million for the final season of his contract in 2022.
