Baltimore Orioles Release Infielder
The Baltimore Orioles have made a change to their roster, as they have released Kelvin Gutierrez.
Gutierrez was designated for assignment by the Orioles at the beginning of the season but cleared waivers. He would remain in Triple-A with the team and never received a call-up from there. Now, instead of keeping the 27-year-old as a part of their depth, they have instead decided to release him.
Gutierrez played in 12 games with the Orioles this season, where he had zero home runs, three RBIs, and a low .143 batting average. Overall, it is clear that he struggled with Baltimore, but he will now be hoping for the chance for a fresh start elsewhere from here.
Teams in need of some depth could consider bringing in Gutierrez on a minor league deal. Time will tell if that does in fact occur.
