Baltimore Orioles Infielder Clears Waivers

Earlier this week, the Baltimore Orioles designated Jonathan Arauz for assignment. The 23-year-old has since cleared waivers and has now been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.

When it was announced that Arauz was DFA'd, it seemed possible that another club would take a chance on him. Keep in mind, he is still very young and has the potential to improve as he continues to get used to the sport's most competitive league. Yet, no teams took a flyer on him, and he will remain with the Orioles organization because of it.

Arauz has split this season between the Boston Red Sox and Orioles, where he has one home run, five RBIs, and a .132 batting average. He will now be aiming to impress with Norfolk, as it could be what gives him a call-up before the year is over.
