Baltimore Orioles Designate Infielder For Assignment
The Baltimore Orioles have designated Jonathan Arauz for assignment,
Arauz was recently placed on the restricted list by the Orioles, but now he has been removed from their 40-man roster entirely. With this development, Arauz will be hitting the waiver wire, which means he can be claimed by another club. This is exactly how the Orioles landed him earlier this season from the Boston Red Sox.
There's also the possibility that the Orioles elect to release him entirely, which of course would make him a free agent. On the open market, there could be some teams willing to sign the 23-year-old, as he is still young and can play second base, shortstop, and third base.
In 68 career MLB games, he has five home runs, 22 RBIs, and a .200 batting average.
