Baltimore Orioles Claim Pitcher Off Waivers
The Baltimore Orioles are adding to their pitching depth, as they have claimed Anthony Castro off of waivers from the Cleveland Guardians.
Castro has been sent down to Triple-A by the Orioles, but he does have a spot on their 40-man roster. As a result of this, the Orioles can call him up at any time without a single ounce of trouble. Thus, if Castro impresses in Triple-A, we could see him receive a promotion before the completion of this campaign.
Things haven't gone smoothly this season for Castro, however. In 12 appearances with the Guardians, he struggled mightily, as he allowed 11 runs in just 13.1 innings pitched. That level of instability from the bullpen is unacceptable, but Castro now has the chance to rebound with the Orioles from here.
It will be intriguing to see if the change of scenery assists Castro with finding success. Time will tell on that front.
