Yankees All-Star Reliever Headed to Injured List With Back Injury
New York Yankees appear to be losing their All-Star reliever.
Clay Holmes said Tuesday that he may need a stint on the 15-day injured list due to a back issue.
Sounds like Clay Holmes could be headed for the IL. He has a tight back, tried to throw a few pitches off the mound today but then backed off. He’s hoping it can be resolved with a few days of rest.

Holmes reportedly started feeling discomfort in his back several days ago and it locked up on him when he tried to throw off a mound on Tuesday.
Holmes blew a save opportunity last Friday in Boston and he has not pitched since. He had been the primary closer up until this point, but it appears that role will once again go back to Aroldis Chapman.
