White Sox Place Starter On IL
As expected, the Chicago White Sox have had to place Michael Kopech on the IL with a knee strain, suffered when he was allowed to pitch in a game on Monday despite the fact that he was obviously and visibly hurt.
Prior to tonight’s series opener at Baltimore, the #WhiteSox placed right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech on the 15-day injured list with a left knee strain and recalled left-hander Tanner Banks from Class AAA Charlotte.

Kopech struggled during his warm-up pitches before the game, favoring his leg. But manager Tony La Russa still allowed him to pitch. Kopech lasted four batters, and all four came around to score. La Russa has been roasted ever since.
Kopech originally injured his knee in June, but didn't go on the IL then, as the team elected to have him pitch through it. He's had a 5.06 ERA since that time.Letting Michael Kopech pitch when he was clearly hurt is reason #194758194 why Tony and the entire training staff need to pack their bags the second this season is over.

Overall on the season, the 26-year-old has a 3.58 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. He's a former 1st round pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.
