Top-Ranked Pitching Prospect in Baseball Takes Positive Step Forward in Recovery

He was just about to make his MLB debut in June before suffering the untimely injury.

Now two months removed from the injury, Baltimore Orioles prospect Grayson Rodriguez is starting baseball activities again.

Rodriguez threw off a full mound on Wednesday, his first time doing so since he suffered a Grade 2 lat strain at the beginning of June.

Although he most likely won't make his major league debut in 2022, there's a good chance we see Rodriguez appearing in minor league games again sometime in September.

The number-one ranked pitching prospect in all of baseball will most definitely be in consideration for an Opening Day rotation spot for the Orioles next season.

The twenty-two-year-old was phenomenal this season at the Triple-A level before going down with the injury, posting a stellar 2.09 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and a fantastic 80 strikeouts across 56 innings. In 11 games started this season, Rodriguez held a 5-1 record.
