Tigers Rookie To Make MLB Debut After Destroying The Minors

He has demolished minor league pitching this year to the tune of 30 HR and 75 RBIs, with a .313 average and 1.025 OPS. Now, 24-year-old outfielder Kerry Carpenter will be making his big league debut with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

The left-handed hitter started his year in Double-A, where he mashed 22 homers in 63 games. In his 34 games at Triple-A, he continued to crush it, hitting .331 with a 1.064 OPS, with 8 homers and 27 RBIs. This all follows a somewhat unremarkable start in the minors last season, though some swing adjustments for this year have obviously made the difference.

25-year-old Daz Cameron will head down to Triple-A to make room; he's managed to hit just .219 with a .629 OPS in 70 plate appearances at the major league level.

The Tigers have had trouble getting offense out of their outfield all season long, so Carpenter could be a huge boost.
