Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher Suffers UCL Injury

 

According to Marc Topkin, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Brendan McKay has a UCL injury and will be seeking a second opinion about it. At this juncture, there's been no announcement that the young pitcher needs surgery.

Given the severity that can come with a UCL injury, this is a very concerning development. McKay has been aiming to cement himself as a major leaguer, but has had trouble sticking with the Rays. Injuries have been a factor behind this, and now the former top prospect is dealing with another one.

Here's to hoping that McKay's injury isn't too severe and that he can return to the mound soon. Alas, time will tell on that front.
