Tampa Bay Rays Acquire Reliever From Los Angeles Dodgers

The Tampa Bay Rays have had frightful injury luck with their bullpen this season, with 7 relievers currently on the injured list. They made headway in addressing that on Monday in a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Rays have bolstered their bullpen depth by trading for lefty Garrett Cleavinger from L.A. He's spent most of the year at the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate this season, where he has a 2.79 ERA with a robust 14.6 K/9.

The 28-year-old Cleavinger had a nice cup of coffee in Dodger Blue last season, with a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings of work, and registering 10.5 strikeouts per nine (10.5 K/9).

It's his final year with minor league options, so the Rays can use him at the major or minor league level as they see fit.
