Royals Call Up Outfielder Acquired at Trade Deadline; Option Catcher

The Kansas City Royals have called up one of their trade deadline acquisitions.

The Royals are promoting outfielder Brent Rooker to the major league roster.

Catcher Sebastian Rivero has been optioned to Double-A Northwest-Arkansas in a corresponding move.

Rooker was acquired from the San Diego Padres in a deadline deal for catcher Cam Gallagher. He has spent the majority of his season at the Triple-A level, hitting an impressive .286/.393/.633, with 22 home runs, 62 RBIs and five stolen bases across 66 games.

Catcher Sebastian Rivero has been optioned to Double-A. The twenty-three year old appeared in just seven games for the Royals this season, and went hitless in all 14 plate appearances.
