Revealed: Yankees Star Slugger Has Return Date Set

The New York Yankees' offense has been one of the worst in all of major league baseball since the All-Star break, so the news of the planned return of slugger Giancarlo Stanton this Thursday is huge. 

Boone says the plan is to activate Giancarlo Stanton off the IL on Thursday.

Stanton said his rehab games have gone off without pain thus far, so he should be on target for the start of their West Coast road trip in Oakland on Thursday.  

Giancarlo Stanton said his rehab assignment went well and he’s aiming to the return to the Yankees on Thursday.

Said the tendinitis in his left Achilles has been improving daily. Next test will be live BP vs Luis Severino on Tuesday.

One note of caution is that he still feels some lingering pain in the Achilles, often in the mornings,  and would prefer it if he can avoid playing the outfield, at least at the start. 

Giancarlo Stanton said that in a perfect world, he’ll start at DH in Oakland.
