Reds Call Up Reliever; DFA Pitcher

The Cincinnati Reds have selected the contract of pitcher Derek Law from Triple-A Louisville.
Law joined the Reds bullpen on Tuesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals and threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.

He'll likely settle into the middle relief role. The thirty-one-year-old previously spent some time with the Detroit Tigers this season, appearing in just two games, however.

The Reds have designated pitcher Ross Detwiler for assignment.

Detwiler has posted a 4.44 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts over 26 innings this season. Detwiler allowed the 694th home run of Albert Pujols' career on Monday night, making him the 450th different pitcher that Pujols has homered against.
