Red Sox Receive Update on Pitcher's Injury Status; Rest of Season in Question
Boston Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck has been diagnosed with a disc issue in his back.
He'll apparently get a week of treatment in Boston and then the team will decide what to do next with Houck.
Tanner Houck has a disc issue per a specialist. He’ll get a week of treatment back in Boston then they’ll decide what comes next. Doesn’t sound promising.

Houck has visited with several spine specialists since he went on the injured list earlier this month with lingering back inflammation.
His status for the remainder of the season is definitely in question here.

The twenty-six-year-old has been a valuable part of the Red Sox's pitching staff this season, posting a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 60 innings. He's also been used in the closer role this season and has been very successful, converting eight of nine save opportunities.
We should receive more clarity on the situation in the coming days.
