"Bizarre": Red Sox Exec Responds To Chris Sale's Latest Injury Disaster
After yet another season decimated by injury for his ace starter Chris Sale, Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom reacted in pretty much the only way he could today.
“You couldn’t make this up, right? We need to dispatch some people to go find whoever has the Chris Sale voodoo doll and recover it.” -- Chaim Bloom.

“You couldn’t make this up, right? We need to dispatch some people to go find whoever has the Chris Sale voodoo doll and recover it," said Bloom.
What else can he say? Since Bloom re-signed Sale to a 5-year, $145M extension in 2019, the pitcher has made a total of 36 starts (25 of them in 2019), registering a mere 11 wins. In the past three seasons, it's 11 starts and 5 wins.
Bloom on Chris Sale: "As with everything that has happened, you look forward and he should be fine. I know we keep saying that and then things keep happening. This is just an incredibly bizarre run of events. He should be full-go next spring."

"As with everything that has happened," continued Bloom, "you look forward and he should be fine. I know we keep saying that and then things keep happening. This is just an incredibly bizarre run of events. He should be full-go next spring."
And then, just two more seasons and $55M left on his contract.
Sale missed time earlier this season with a rib stress fracture, and then a broken finger; and he missed much of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery that also wiped out his 2020.
