Rays Activate and Immediately Option Pitcher

The Tampa Bay Rays have reinstated pitcher Nick Anderson from the 60-day injured list and immediately optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

The thirty-two-year-old had finally worked his way back from elbow surgery, completing his minor league appearance. Anderson's final rehab outing on Friday was pretty ugly, however, as he failed to record an out and allowed three hits, including a home run, on just eight pitches.

Perhaps, this factored into the Rays' decision to keep Anderson in Triple-A, as he looks like he needs more time in the minors before he's ready to return to major league competition.

Anderson has only pitched six innings in the majors since the start of the 2021 season due to a lingering elbow issue that eventually required surgery.

The thirty-two-year-old was one of the best relievers in all of baseball between some of the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
